#bowencelebrates the Big Mango's 21st Birthday

As part of the Big Mango 21st Birthday Celebrations, Bowen Tourism and Business have launched the #bowencelebrates photo competition. We know how proud the local community is of our Big Mango and we witness everyday how much our visitors love our beautiful town and beaches. The #bowencelebrates photo competition is all about celebrating our Big Mango and showing the world how amazing Bowen is.
Beginning on March 13th, the photo competition is looking for stand out photographs in two categories:
- Creative Big Mango - a photo that captures the Big Mango in a creative way or a Big Mango inspired selfie.
- Beautiful Bowen - a photo that captures Bowen's beauty through her beaches, history, horticulture or seafood industries.
For each category there will be two prizes: Judges choice and Popular Vote. Prizes will include once-in-a-lifetime experiences in Bowen and the Whitsundays and will be announced very soon.
Judges will be selected from the Bowen Tourism and Business staff, committee and wider community.
The winner for the popular vote category will be selected from a short list of amazing images that will be displayed on the Bowen Tourism and Business social media channels. The photo with the most likes wins!
The competition will close on the 6th of May and the voting period for Popular Choice will commence on the 13th of May. Winners will be announced on the Big Mango's 21st Birthday, the 25th of May.
To enter your photo into the #bowencelebrates competition:
1. Capture an amazing photo of Bowen OR unleash your creativity with a Big Mango photo or selfie.
2. Upload your photo to Facebook or Instagram.
3. Include the hashtag #bowencelebrates in the comment of your post to go in the running.

#bowencelebrates Photography Competition Terms and Conditions
Information on how to enter forms part of the Competition Terms and Conditions of entry. Entry into the competition is deemed acceptance of these Competition Terms and Conditions.
The Organiser of the competition is Bowen Tourism and Business (referred to as BTB), Lot 236, Bruce Highway, Bowen, Qld 4805.
Failure by the Organiser to enforce any of its rights under these terms and conditions at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
Eligibility
Entry is open to photographers worldwide, excluding directors, management and employees of the BTB.
The competition is open to all ages.
The Organiser reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries, votes and personal details concerning entrants and voters and to disqualify any entrant or voter who submits an entry or vote that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or who tampers with the entry or voting process.
The competition commences at 12.00am (AEST) on 13th of March 2023 and closes at 11:59pm (AEST) on 6th May. Only entries that are received in accordance with these Competition Terms and Conditions during the Competition Period will be eligible for entry.
Competition Entry
To enter, Eligible Entrants must use the hashtag #bowencelebrates in the comment section of their image post on the platforms Instagram or Facebook.
Every post (excluding the posts of the Organiser) that contains an image and the hashtag #bowencelebrates will be considered an entry into the competition.
Images entered must have been photographed by the Entrant; entries by third parties are not eligible.
There is no limit on the number of entries per Eligible Entrant.
Incomplete, indecipherable, or illegal entries will be deemed invalid and will be rejected.
The Organiser reserves the right to disqualify any entry where is reasonably suspects that such materials are prohibited by these terms and conditions, any relevant law, or are otherwise deemed inappropriate. This is at the Organiser’s absolute discretion and discussions will not be entered into. Images (and any related comments) that are considered unlawful, harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, racially offensive, contain objectionable content or otherwise inappropriate will be deemed invalid and rejected. The Organiser, in its absolute discretion, reserves the right to notify relevant authorities including law enforcement bodies and provide them with the objectionable image and the entrant’s personal information.
The Organiser is not responsible for any lost, late or misdirected entries.
Entrants are required to retain a copy of any photographs submitted in the highest resolution possible.
Each entrant warrants to the Organiser that:
Each entry submitted (including the entrants photograph) is an original artistic work of the entrant that does not infringe on the rights of any third party, including but not limited to, copyright, trademarks, trade secrets, privacy, publicity, personal or proprietary rights; and
entrants must ensure they have the necessary model and/or property releases as required, and winning entrants may be requested to provide written evidence of these signed documents.
Failure to provide such documentation could result in their entry being forfeited. The entrant agrees to indemnify the Promoter against all costs and claims by third parties arising from a breach of these warranties.
As a condition of entering this competition, all entrants grant to the Organiser the right to use their image in on websites and in promotional material, this usage is royalty free. This usage includes but is not limited to any media including banners, signage, posters, magazines, television, internet, DVD, MMS or other digital or print formats.
Due regard will be given to the preservation of the artistic integrity of the works. The Organiser will not edit, alter or demean any images in any way. The Organiser does retain the right to crop the image for reproduction processes. Entrants will be credited for use of image where possible.
If this competition is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Organiser, the Organiser reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law to disqualify any entrant or voter or to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the competition, as appropriate.
Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, the Organiser (including its officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence) for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the competition, including but not limited to, where arising out of the following;
any technical difficulties or equipment malfunctions (whether or not under the Organiser’s control), any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference, any entry, photograph or prize claim or vote that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Organiser) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Organiser, any variation in prize value to that stated in these Terms and Conditions; any tax liability incurred by a winner or entrant or use of a prize.
The Organiser collects personal information in order to conduct the competition and may, for this purpose disclose such information to third parties, including, but not limited to, prize suppliers as required, to Australian regulatory and enforcement authorities. All personal information received will be dealt with in accordance with the National Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act.
